A fantastic package for anyone competing overseas: the award winning Dave Scott Long Course Trisuit and the Archimedes II wetsuit - both in the GB Patriot design.
The Archimedes II has been developed in a laboratory, where the technologies of the original Archimedes were developed and furthered and any faults ironed out. The primary focus was to improve the flexibility and to design a suit that felt as natural as possible. These aims have led to a more efficient suit; one that allows the wearer to exert less energy to perform the same activities, and one that helps rather than hinders the swimmer’s speed and stroke.
The suit’s side, back and shoulder panels have been reduced by 25% to improve the range of motion you are able to achieve whilst wearing the suit, and the underarm has been formed with an ultra-stretchy, ultra-fine material in order to improve flexibility and reach.
HUUB is the only company that measures the drag created by a swimmer when they are actually swimming – rather than being pulled – in order to create a suit which accurately reduces drag. The calf area has been thinned out to less than 1mm, in order to create a natural feeling kick and reduce the risk of cramp and injury.
The collar is distinctively low, yet highly comfortable, with no stitches, folds or zips to irritate your neck.
3:5 – this describes the ratio of the buoyancy. This ratio is designed for those who need more lift in the legs and hips than the arms and shoulders. This buoyancy ratio will help to maintain your body's posture in the water, and thus reduce fatigue as your core will be relieved from a lot of work as it attempts to keep your hips high in the water.
X-O SKELETON – the X-O Skeleton does a similar job to our skeleton within the body: it keeps everything in the right place. The X-O Skeleton gives the suit a durable structure, to reduce energy wastage as your hips and pelvis will move less (requiring less exertion to correct) and thus making you faster and reducing fatigue.
ULTRA FLEXIBLE – the suit’s underarms are formed from a highly stretch material to allow you the most natural stroke possible, the back and shoulders are just 1mm thick and the calf section is under 1mm thick to give you complete freedom of movement in the water.
ANTI-DRAG – HUUB have measured drag in a distinctive way, they have not used a system to pull the suit through the water, but rather measured it when it is being worn and, most importantly, swum in. This gives them an edge when it comes to accuracy and ironing out small but potentially significant issues when it comes to making the suit as aqua-dynamic as possible.
CALF/BICEP RELEASE – these have both been adapted to improve kick, pull and flex. By increasing the volume but reducing the thickness of the calf area with a high stretch material, HUUB have ensured the most natural and unrestricted kick possible which will not only speed you up but also reduces your risk of cramp.
Dave Scott Long Course Trisuit:
This Trisuit has been designed under the guidance of Dave Scott, an expert when it comes to what a suit must deliver on in terms of functionality. His priorities are comfort, thermodynamics and speed - all factors that the team at HUUB have focussed upon and effectively delivered.
The synthetic chamois fabric of this suit has been ergonomically designed for long distance swimming, cycling and running. The shape and material have been developed to support open hip positions when cycling as this has been proven to result in better times, and is more comfortable for the rider.
All designs are manufactured using Coldblack technology, which provides you with UPF 30 protection and offers you a professional level of thermodynamic properties. This technology also makes the fabric repel the sun’s rays, bringing down your body temperature and the amount of UV rays that penetrate the suit without changing its appearance.
The short sleeves are longer than most short sleeved trisuits, making them more aerodynamic and improving the control of your upper arm muscles; they will help to reduce muscle vibrations and shield the more sensitive areas from the sun. The arm and leg cuffs are completely seam-free and the rear pockets lie flat against your skin and are covered to help make you more aerodynamic - shaving precious seconds off your time!
THERMODYNAMIC – the suit has mesh panels in the areas you will need the most ventilation so that your body can breathe. The whole suit employs Coldblack technology to keep you cool, and all the fabrics are heat reflective. The suit has a full frontal zip to allow even more ventilation when needed.
WATERPROOF – the latest high-wick technology prevents sweat from settling into the fabric, keeping you cool and dry, yet remains soft to the touch so that chafing and irritation are prevented.
UPF 30 - the fabric will only allow 1/30 of the sun’s ultra violet light to penetrate the suit.
