We know how serious you are about at competition at My Triathlon so our store is dedicated to your needs. Time is everything when you are competing in competitions and our latest blog looks at ways to trim seconds off your personal best.
- Wear a wetsuit: This sounds a bit obvious but not everyone wears a wetsuit and swimming without one slows you down. Wear a wetsuit and you should be able to swim around 10 to 20 seconds quicker per 100 metres than you would if you didn’t have one on. We stock a wide variety of wetsuits or you can hire them for race events through www.mywetsuithire.co.uk.
- Make sure the wetsuit fits: Wetsuits are efficient when they fit properly, buy something that doesn’t fit you like a glove and this could slow you down in the water. Try a few on if you have to so they sit snug on your body, wetsuits loosen up in the water so tighter is better if you want to slash those swim times.
- Look at your bike technique: Consider how you mount your bike during transition, the way the bike fits your body, how you change gear and other factors that could be hindering your performance. Get professional advice if needs be to make the time in the saddle more efficient, don’t let a lack of pedal knowledge let you down. Something as simple as not having the seat at the right height could affect your performance. Leg extensions should be between 140 and 150 degrees when you are in the saddle, anything different could be damaging your race times.
- Choose trainers with care: Regularly replaces your training shoes and pick footwear that’s good for your body type. Look for the maximum amount of shock protection from impact, opt for lighter footwear if you find heavier trainers are holding you back and get to know the brands that suit your body best.
