With its 3L waterproof softshell fabric and elements-blocking brim, the EQUIPE RS Rain Cap is a must-have for cold, wet conditions.

At first sight, you might think this is just a standard cycling cap. But you have to feel it to notice that it's cut from the same scientifically-developed softshell material as ASSOS' race-proven EQUIPE RS Rain Jacket. It shares the same weather-defying capabilities too.

That means this Rain Cap has been armed with Schloss Tex, a flexible and breathable sandwiched hydrophilic membrane. The designers also gave it an adjustable element-shielding brim, light elastic at the rear for a perfect fit, and splashed bold EQUIPE RS graphics throughout.

When they deconstructed the seemingly universal race cap, ASSOS' technical experts found several elements which could be improved to tackle the all-too-common shortcomings of this apparently simple garment.

So they inserted breathable mesh panels into the sides, and added a terry lining to the forehead area to deal with that first bugbear - sweat. They then realised that, as athletes see the sun from every conceivable angle, they'd appreciate a wide brim to give maximum possible protection.

Having addressed this, they moved on to the actual fit, and made the elastic holding the cap in place as light as possible while still being able to keep it firmly in place.
