Blue Seventy's Core Short - Available Now
The Blue Seventy Core Short is a fantastic piece of training kit.
If you are training for an triathlon and you need to improve your swimming (and who doesn’t), these shorts are great. They provide some buoyancy to help get your legs up, do a good job of simulating swimming in a wet suit, and enable you to work those arms longer without worrying so much about the kick. Because the Blue Seventy Core Short helps stimulate the lift of a wetsuit this makes it so much easier to adjust to swimming on race day.
The Core Short is made from high quality Yamamoto neoprene - the same material as Blue Seventy's award winning Helix wetsuit. The use of super buoyant rubber on the front and high quality neoprene in the back helps to lift the core while swimming. Down the sides a thinner neoprene is used and is attached to a flexible orange A-Flex liner. This unique design opens at the thigh making the core short easy to take on and off in-between sets. As the shorts are so easy to put on and take off – it really helps as you can have a varied training session. More importantly, this construction does not hinder but encourages proper hip rotation without sacrificing all-important buoyancy. The core short should be worn over a swim suit and used for specific sets when looking to take advantage of faster swimming with the benefits of buoyancy.
The core short is a great alternative to the pull buoy - it will improve distance per stroke, speed and body position all without the bulk and drag of a pull buoy. No longer are you limited in the strokes you can do. it provides improved swimming for all four strokes while allowing natural kick, hip rotation and turning. The core short is positioned to become the next great training tool for swimmers of all abilities.
The shorts as with all Blue Seventy products are extremely well made and designed to withstand hours of pool and open water use – so with care should last a few seasons of swim training. As with any neoprene wetsuits – they do need to be cared for and should be rinsed inside out with fresh water after each use and hung dry. Also, although the shorts are really easy to put on and take off always be careful of finger nail damage to the neoprene material!!
